Short Breaks and Transitions

Short Breaks And Transitions

"I would like to thank you for the lovely holiday J had in Skegness recently."

"Being at Eleanor Lodge has boosted my comfidence and has helped me get a full time job and the staff are always there to support me."

"Staying at Eleanor Lodge has been really useful.  Eleanor Lodge has helped me be more independent, go out alone - haircut, dentist, food shop.I could not do that before. I have met Brian, my new friend.  Staff are nice, esp Kate.  I have been happy here and would recommend it."

“Thank you very, very much.  If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t have coped and come to this positive decision without your support”

What are Short Breaks?

Short Breaks aim to benefit people with disabilities, complex health needs, and/or sensory impairments. Adults are offered experiences that improve their individual and social development. Short Breaks can occur at different times – during the day or evening; overnight or on weekends, and can span a few hours or a number of days. They can also be offered in various locations ranging from the family home, a carer’s home, a residential setting, or as part of a plan to offer specialist additional support. The type of service and the allocated time is dependent on the need of the customer and the customers family.

Olympus Care Services believes that the success of Short Breaks has continued to:

• Reduce social isolation

• Give greater access to leisure facilities

• Support the development of friendship/peer networks

• Enable personal development

• Provide a safe, enjoyable, educational experience that promotes the well-being of customers

Our short breaks are positive opportunities for you to make new friends, try different things, and in some circumstances, start to prepare for living on your own.

Short breaks also provide carers and family members with some time for themselves, through a respite break from their caring duties.

Beautifully Appointed Accommodation In Northamptonshire

If you would like a short break, but would prefer not to be too far from home, you may like to try one of our breaks at Pine Lodge in Corby, or Eleanor Lodge in Northampton.

Both are very welcoming and friendly homes where you would be supported to live as independently as possible alongside a small group of other young people. Many new friendships blossom in the homes, as residents relax and enjoy trying out new things within the house and in the local community.

You would have a bedroom to yourself, which you can fill with your belongings, and there will be a convenient, fully accessible communal bathroom for you to use. There will also be a comfortable shared lounge and kitchen area for you to prepare your own snacks and refreshments whenever you like.

All our short break accommodation is non-smoking; however customers may choose to smoke in one of the designated areas.

If you’re a young person and you would like to live on your own, we can help you prepare until you feel ready to make the next move.

By helping you to learn important life skills, identifying what support you may need in your own home, or by helping you to find the right accommodation, our dedicated team can help you get ready for the next exciting step of living on your own.

Helping you develop your confidence and skills through reablement

Olympus Care Services has three warm and friendly reablement homes in Northamptonshire. They are positive and welcoming environments where you can find help with your personal care and support with daily living and practical tasks.

These homes can be enjoyed when you are discharged from hospital, or if you would just like a short break from your usual routine.

Each home-from-home offers a very high standard of support and an environment where you will be treated with care and respect.

  • Eleanor Lodge in Northampton is a modern and welcoming home for younger adults who require up to six months reablement. This friendly and comfortable home was recently refurbished to a very high standard and received the Home of the Year Award in 2013 for its high quality services and accommodation.
  • Pine Lodge in Corby provides short breaks for younger adults with physical or learning disabilities. At Pine Lodge, you will enjoy modern, comfortable accommodation with well-equipped communal kitchens, lounges and bathrooms where you’ll be encouraged to carry out daily tasks for yourself.
  • Da Vinci Court in Wellingborough was built in 2013 and is conveniently located close to the town centre. It offers purpose built and specially adapted self-contained flats for younger adults with physical or learning disabilities. Flats contain high level hoists, adjustable work surfaces and hibs, accessible wet rooms and life line systems connecting directly to Olympus Care Services Staff.
