“Thank you very, very much. If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t have coped and come to this positive decision without your support”
Short Breaks aim to benefit people with disabilities, complex health needs, and/or sensory impairments. Adults are offered experiences that improve their individual and social development. Short Breaks can occur at different times – during the day or evening; overnight or on weekends, and can span a few hours or a number of days. They can also be offered in various locations ranging from the family home, a carer’s home, a residential setting, or as part of a plan to offer specialist additional support. The type of service and the allocated time is dependent on the need of the customer and the customers family.
Olympus Care Services believes that the success of Short Breaks has continued to:
• Reduce social isolation
• Give greater access to leisure facilities
• Support the development of friendship/peer networks
• Enable personal development
• Provide a safe, enjoyable, educational experience that promotes the well-being of customers
Our short breaks are positive opportunities for you to make new friends, try different things, and in some circumstances, start to prepare for living on your own.
Short breaks also provide carers and family members with some time for themselves, through a respite break from their caring duties.
If you would like a short break, but would prefer not to be too far from home, you may like to try one of our breaks at Pine Lodge in Corby, or Eleanor Lodge in Northampton.
Both are very welcoming and friendly homes where you would be supported to live as independently as possible alongside a small group of other young people. Many new friendships blossom in the homes, as residents relax and enjoy trying out new things within the house and in the local community.
You would have a bedroom to yourself, which you can fill with your belongings, and there will be a convenient, fully accessible communal bathroom for you to use. There will also be a comfortable shared lounge and kitchen area for you to prepare your own snacks and refreshments whenever you like.
All our short break accommodation is non-smoking; however customers may choose to smoke in one of the designated areas.
If you’re a young person and you would like to live on your own, we can help you prepare until you feel ready to make the next move.
By helping you to learn important life skills, identifying what support you may need in your own home, or by helping you to find the right accommodation, our dedicated team can help you get ready for the next exciting step of living on your own.
Olympus Care Services has three warm and friendly reablement homes in Northamptonshire. They are positive and welcoming environments where you can find help with your personal care and support with daily living and practical tasks.
These homes can be enjoyed when you are discharged from hospital, or if you would just like a short break from your usual routine.
Each home-from-home offers a very high standard of support and an environment where you will be treated with care and respect.
All of our customers benefit from Olympus Care Services’ person-centred approach to their care and support.
We value your aspirations and wishes, and they are central to when we plan your care. We also focus on what you can do; instead of what you cannot.
Working in partnership with you and your family, our key workers will ensure your care programme reflects how you want to live your life in the future.
As you move through into adulthood, your transition plan will be regularly reviewed and revised. We appreciate that dreams and aspirations can change frequently! What will remain the same, is that we will be there to guide and support you as much as you want us to.
Depending on your individual needs, abilities and personal goals, there are many different ways we can support you. Have a look at the list below and see how we could help you:
